Robert Cattan

Robert Cattan's story in the White Plains Times

"White Plains Artist Featured in NYC Exhibit By: Michael Pellegrin Published: September 13, 2006

Robert Cattan has an idea for the vacant storefronts in White Plains’ downtown area: open them up, without charge, for artists to create or display their work. Although vacant property is becoming rarer as the city’s downtown is being revitalized (or overdeveloped, depending on your point of view), Cattan believes that landlords holding out for a good deal should lend the space to artists for a short period of time."

INDEX STOCK IMAGERY IS GREATLY EXPANDING ITS ALLIANCES IN MEXICO

EFE Represents Index Stock Imagery

NEW YORK, October, 2006 – – Index Stock Imagery, The Independent Choice for Your Imagination, is actively expanding on a global scale. The well known media company, EFE, has commenced representing Index Stock’s rights managed and royalty free imagery in Mexico and Central America.

Diane Backlund, Director of EFE, offers this about the company:
For the last 75 years, EFE has been the leading Spanish language news agency in Latin America, and EFE is the fourth largest news agency in the world. As a multimedia news company with a network of journalists worldwide, there are more than 3,000 professionals of 60 nationalities working 24 hours a day in over 180 cities in 110 countries, offering products to customers across the five continents. They are specialists in the coverage of news for the Spanish language population around the world, with emphasis on Latin America and the Hispanic/USA events. EFE distributes 3 million pieces of news every year in various news formats: text, photographs, audio, video and multimedia, which reach more than two 2,000 publishers and other media in the world.

From its world network of bureaus and correspondents’ offices, EFE instantaneously offers the Spanish and Latin American view of the world in Spanish, Portuguese, English, Arabic and Catalan. In Spain, there are more people reading the news from EFE than any national daily newspaper. EFE is responsible for more than forty percent of international news published in Latin America. In America, EFE has 761 customers: 218 newspapers, 73 radio stations, 201 magazines, 49 TV channels and 63 digital media.

The Agency’s photographic library stores 13 million documents in the form of glass plates, negatives and slides. With 1.7 million on-line photos dating from the end of the 19th century up until through today, EFE’s FOTOTECA is the gateway to the largest photographical library in the Spanish-speaking world. The database is updated daily with more than a thousand photos. EFE’s news archive (Efedata) is the largest database of news articles, biographies and documents in Spanish in the world, and also contains articles in Portuguese, Arabic, English and Catalan. It is an intelligent historical archive with more than 10 million files. EFE’s Spanish video library contains 15,000 video tapes that store images and programs dating back to 1989.

Peter McClusky, VP International at Index states: “Mexico is a growing and dynamic market for our imagery. This deal reflects a strategy to conduct a deeper market segmentation within the significant image licensing markets of the world. We are pleased to be working with EFE, to represent our extensive and professionally shot rights managed and royalty free collections to their news clients.”
